Artist You Should Hear #2

Kind of a shameless plug on my part. As V.P. of Gracie Productions, I work directly with pop artist Sally Anthony. Regardless, I was a fan before I was the V.P.

Working as Program Director of WAZY in Lafayette, IN I would have stacks of CDs on my desk. All of which from artists trying to get airplay. My Music Director, Scotty Blades, needed a song for his new music feature one night. I tossed him a CD sitting on my desk that I was yet to listen to. That CD was the Sally Anthony "Vent" single. Anyway, Scotty played it...loved it...and he put it in "The Battle." Would you believe it won? And it beat Kanye West! So, I listened. And I loved it. It turned out, Sally lived in Indianapolis. Less than an hour from the radio station.

We played the crap of that song. Did a concert with Sally and Ray J.

And the rest is history. OK...I got a little off track.

Sally Anthony IS an artist you should hear for many reasons. Most importantly, her song writing is amazing. Songs like "Today Is Not Tomorrow" and "Villain" will haunt you with both the deep lyrics and strong vocal. Then Anthony will mix it up with a "Fuck You" song like "Good Bye" or "Death Of Me." And then there are the Sally songs that would be HUGE on Radio Disney like "Don't Fall In Love (With Me)" and "Your Way."
